Can You Fly?

Aerial photos are regularly needed and used by different types of businesses. If you don't like to fly or want to fly to take these pictures, you can hire other people to take them for you. Companies that need to do studies on large lots of property often need these pictures too, to file studies on the land when it is being sold or having proposed buildings or roads built on them. Even government agencies require these up-to-date photos. You can even sell them to existing homeowners that need them for insurance or many other reasons.

You can sell these photos for $50 or more each. Most often working for real estate agents can keep you busy. They need to list their properties with well-taken pictures; if you can offer these quickly, you will find yourself busy. Now that more realtors are showing their homes on-line, there is also a call for photographers capable of many different angles of homes and property, the big-ticket properties especially.

You don't need to fly to be able to do this job, all you will need is a cherry picker. A cherry picker is a mobile crane with an enclosed platform that is raised to allow somebody to work any different height off the ground. You typically see them used by city workers fixing traffic or streetlights, wires on telephone poles, trimming trees, and many more high hard-to-reach jobs.

If you decide to take these pictures yourself, you need to have the proper photography equipment. A good digital camera that can take pictures of large areas will be needed. If you are able to print these pictures with a simple photo printer it will help, you will be able to finish and deliver the pictures quickly. Downloading the pictures on CDs may be all that you will need to deliver also. This will all depend on what your customers want.

Cherry pickers can also be rented to take many different types of pictures. People use them because they are a safe way to accomplish tasks in high places, but if you are able to transport a reliable ladder, it could work just as well for many of the photos you may need to take. You just need to be careful and know how to use a ladder safely.

Use your local library to find out how many companies in your area may need services like these. Check with your local government offices also and find out from them if they can direct you in the right direction towards companies that are required to file pictures with them for permits and such. You may be put in touch with companies that are on a waiting list for needed pictures, because there are so few companies to furnish them.

Make sure that you have a well-arranged portfolio of pictures, of many different kinds to show them your abilities, when talking to them. It is always good to be well prepared.
